Our Story

Where do we start? Konifir Truffle Co is not just a place, service or a product. It is a idea. It is a dream. It is a calling for awareness to our exceptional Pacific Northwest truffle species and the growing local truffle culture in Washington. The road to building Konifir Truffle Co began with a human and dog, building an amazing unbreakable bond found through truffle hunting. The journey flowed from training, to hunting and ultimately experiencing the powerful, yet delicate, aromas of our local truffles. Even though this journey led to Konifir Truffle co, the journey has really just begun!

Our Mission

Konifir Truffle Co strives to increase education and awareness to the exceptional quality of Pacific Northwest truffles and help drive the growing local truffle culture by encouraging and engaging in dog-harvesting practices only.

About the Owner

Having served on a 2019 deployment in Afghanistan for a Special Operations unit, Aaron certainly understands hard work and attention to detail. He also has years of experience in hospitality and guest service. Aaron does not hesitate to help his community as he did for food banks during the Covid Pandemic or volunteering for his local police department. Aaron's truffle journey is a story of redemption and healing. His dog, Georgie, is a companion that has helped bring hope and joy. Many people may think the goal of truffle hunting is the truffle itself, but for Aaron, the process is much more rewarding. The physical act of the hunt has helped Aaron overcome back pain and improved emotional well being. Aaron looks forward to providing exceptional service and knowledge of our truffles to you! Aaron is a member of the North American Truffle Growers Association (NATGA) and a member of the North American Truffling Society (NATS).

About Georgie

Georgie is a 3-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi that is not simply a pet, but a companion to an Afghan war vet. Georgie helps Aaron with back pain and PTSD. Georgie has been trained in advanced obedience and parkour training to also help with her truffle hunting. She has quickly become an advanced truffle hunter that has helped other handlers and their dogs hunt. Anyone who is fortunate enough to witness Georgie hunt will see how talented she really is. Plus, how can anyone resist a Corgi digging with little stubby legs! Georgie's favorite treat is string cheese, and she loves taking long rides in the car (to go truffle hunting of course).

About the "Wild" Truffiere

Konifir Truffle Co harvests truffles from a privately owned property in Shelton, Washington. This property is what we call a "Wild" Truffiere. This means that the entire 6 acres of forested, undeveloped property is dedicated to the cultivation and research of local Pacific Northwest truffles. Local wildlife and plant life will be allowed to flourish within the Truffiere and no alterations to the property will be allowed. This ensures a healthy forest ecosystem and conveniently also ensures healthy increased truffle production. To learn more about truffles and their life cycle, please see our "learn" page.
